ANIMALS GESTATION PERIODS
One thing a female African elephant can never forget is her pregnancy, a nearly two-year vigil. By contrast, the human female takes roughly 270 days to bring her infant from conception to normal live birth.
All in all, that is respectable gestation period for a sizeable mammal, but it cannot compare with the 645 the average Asian elephant puts into the process, or the 480 days the also portly White Rhino puts in.
Animal psychologists are yet to determine whether post-partum depression lasts a comparable time for these beasts.
