Learn how to start from scratch when it may feel too late in life
“We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us. The old skin has to be shed before the new one can come.” — Joseph Campbell, an American writer
We all deserve new beginnings. We all go through tough times in our lives. We all experience life’s difficult situations.
New beginnings are not gifts. They are choices. It’s our choice to start fresh and go in a new direction.

“The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide you’re not going to stay where you are.” — J.P. Morgan, an American financier and investment banker
Don’t let your limits, aging, parenthood, bad relationships, losing a loved one, divorce, or the wrong job discourage you from starting over.
Change is part of life. We must embrace it and make the best of the new circumstances. We have all felt that sometimes things don’t work out, and we need a change.
Don’t be afraid to make a change. Don’t be worried that time is short. Don’t be afraid to tell yourself you are stuck and unhappy and need to do something about it.
“Each new day is a blank page in the diary of your life. The secret of success is in turning that diary into the best story you possibly can.” — Douglas Pagels, an author and editor
Please don’t limit your windows of opportunity because you think it’s too late in life to start over. Don’t be held back by age, education, or family. Break free from your current situation and start a new journey in a new direction.
“Your life does not get better by chance. It gets better by change.”– Jim Rohn, an American entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker
It’s never too late to start over and reboot your life. Here are three things to do to start over (even when it feels too late).
1. Identify the Challenges
“Challenges are gifts that force us to search for a new center of gravity. Don’t fight them. Just find a new way to stand.” — Oprah Winfrey, an American talk show host, television producer, actress, author, and media proprietor
Start by figuring out what’s holding you back from rebooting your life. If you just ended a long-term relationship, what challenges do you have in front of you?
Spending more time alone. Finding a new place to live. Making new friends. Changing your job. These are some things you must identify as challenges you’ll face as you start over.
Please write down your challenges and three potential options to solve them. Once you see that every problem has an answer, you’ll get comfortable with the change. You must put your mind at ease so that you can reboot your life and realize nothing is standing in your way.
2. Are You Aligned with Your Values and Priorities?
As your life changes, your values and priorities may change too. To change your life, you must head in the right direction. Your time must align with your values and priorities, and then spend time on what’s important to you.
Be honest with yourself during this self-discovery process. To make the most of your change in life, you must truly know your values and priorities.
Engage in some self-reflection by asking: What do I really care about? What’s my purpose in life? What truly matters?
3. Gain a Fresh Perspective
“Stay away from what might have been, and look at what can be.” — Marsha Petrie Sue, an author, public speaker, and motivational coach
To break free from your past and limits, you must step back and get a new perspective. What is holding you back from doing something? What self-imposed limitations are constraining you? What is restricting you?
Growth only comes from pushing the limits. If you are not challenging yourself, you won’t grow in your life. Your reality is driven by perception.
How you look at your life matters. You can control how you look at things.
To start fresh, you must change how you perceive your reality. Your perception is powerful, and you can start over from scratch when you justify why now is an excellent time to do so.
