1. 2023: Use Your Votes To Retire Atiku, He Is An Ingrate – Tinubu Urges Supporters
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has been described as an ingrate for contesting in the 2023 presidential election.
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu stated this on Saturday in Lagos during the ruling party’s presidential campaign.
The event is being held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.
Tinubu while addressing supporters of the party charged them to retire Atiku with their votes in 2023.
The former Governor of Lagos promised to carry on the legacy of President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that Nigerians would be carried along if he emerge president.
Tinubu described Atiku as an ungrateful person who has been contesting since 1999.
2. Edo PDP: Orbih Defeats Obaseki, Appeal Court Favours Orbih’s Candidates
The Court of Appeal sitting in Edo State on Friday nullified the list of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates submitted by the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki.
The appellant court ruled in favour of candidates belonging to the Legacy PDP Group led by the National Vice Chairman of the party, Dan Orbih.
Following the ruling by Justice Tunde Oyebamiji Awotoye, the candidates that emerged from the primaries of Orbih would be recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in 2023.
The Court of Appeal on Friday also struck out an earlier suit which declared the candidates from the faction of the state Governor, Obaseki as the authentic candidates of the PDP because of the incomplete transmission of records.
Governor Obaseki and Orbih have been fighting for leadership in the state chapter of the PDP.
The crisis in the party saw the groups present two different lists of candidates to INEC following parallel primaries held by the two factions.
3. Fintiri Escapes Unhurt As Truck Crushes Vehicles In His Convoy
The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri on Saturday escaped unhurt after a truck crushed two vehicles in his convoy.
A witness who spoke on the incident said the accident happened after the governor and some of his commissioners entered a black Mercedes bus at the end of a wedding at Agga Mosque in Dougirei highbrow area of Yola, the state capital.
The witness disclosed that a truck which was rolling down the steep road crushed two vehicles in his convoy.
He further stated that the incident left two policemen identified as Inspector Madu and Sergeant Isa injured.
A resident identified as Muhammad Dougirei said the tipper suddenly ran toward the governor’s convoy at a speed so high.
There are indications that the driver had lost control.
4. Ortom Has Abandoned Benue, Now Dances With Wike And G5 Around Nigeria – AAC Candidate
The Benue State governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Benjamin Obe has accused the Governor of the state, Samuel Ortom of abandoning his duties and frolicking with his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike.
Obe said that despite the poverty and insecurity rocking the state Ortom has chosen to ignore the problems of Benue and has decided to go around with other aggrieved governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), known as G5 governors, and seeking the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.
The AAC candidate said this on Saturday in a statement made available to Naija News.
He claimed that Nigerians are fascinated by the G5 Governors who move around the country dancing to show their grievances against Atiku.
5. I Constructed Road To Your House – Wike Slams Amaechi
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on Saturday alleged that his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi failed to construct roads and flyovers while in power.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governor claimed that he built the road leading to the residence of the former Minister of Transportation.
He further stated that he built all the internal roads that Amaechi failed to construct in his Local Government.
Wike said, “I have gone to your local government to do all the internal roads which you refused…I’ve given you a school in your community, even the house you are living in, I did the road to your house.”
The Rivers State Governor stated this on Saturday while commissioning the Rukpakwolusi-Eliogbolo community new layout road in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area in the state.
Amaechi had reportedly said on Wednesday that he constructed projects and built five flyovers in the state without noise.
Wike while reacting on Saturday said Amaechi does not have the moral right to talk about Rivers, describing the former governor as a failure.
6. An Apology From Ayu Might End PDP Crisis – Party Sources
Fresh information has emerged that the ongoing crisis within the camp of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) might end only if the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu can tender a sincere apology to the five aggrieved governors of the party known as the G5.
A source close to one of the aggrieved governors told Punch that Ayu is the reason the G5 governors are bent on working against the party’s flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar and that they have nothing personal against him.
The source said if only Ayu who made a promise but reneged on it, would be diplomatic about his utterances and render an apology, then peace would be given a chance.
The G5 governors led by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike have demanded that the national chairman resigns, on the grounds that the party cannot have a presidential candidate and its chairman from the same regional bloc.
The source told Punch that “The governors are aware of the implication of teaming up with a presidential candidate of another party. They are not blaming Atiku much even though they believe he could have done more.
7. APC Rally: Jandor Picks On Sanwo-Olu, Says He Forced Traders To Quit Market
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran aka Jandor has accused the incumbent Governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of threatening traders to quit the market today.
According to him, men of the Lagos State Parks and Garages Management Committee, led by Musiliu Akinsanya a.k.a. MC Oluomo were allegedly sent out to threaten traders in major markets of the state to quit sales today because of the All Progressives Congress (APC) rally for Bola Tinubu.
Jandor in a statement issued by his campaign spokesperson, Gbenga Ogunleye, alleged that the Lagos government forced the traders in major markets to attend the event or face punishment as threatened by MC Oluomo’s men.
He said some market leaders have complained about a directive not to open today, noting that the alleged action of the state government was “insensitive, callous, barbaric, and criminal.”
8. Political Parties Can’t Accept Or Contribute Donations Beyond N50M – INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has mandated that political parties and candidates are not allowed to accept or contribute donations beyond N50 million ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The information is contained in INEC’s guidelines for the conduct of political rallies, processions and campaigns.
The guideline also bothers on the finances and election expenses of political parties, candidates and aspirants for next year’s election.
According to the INEC guideline, the election expenses of a political party are divided into three parts, the management of aspirants and party primaries, the management of candidates and then the conduct of elections and miscellaneous election expenses.
The guideline also noted that the miscellaneous election expenses of a political party shall include but not be limited to, re-election cases against the party, post-election or election petitions and re-mobilisation of party members after elections.
9. Call For Igbo Presidency Is Right And Timely But Won’t Happen In 2023 – PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that the call for a presidency from the South-East is morally right and timely.
The Deputy Director, Media and Publicity of the PDP Presidential Campaign Management Committee, Chukwubuikem Uloka stated this in a statement. in Awka.
Uloka explained that though there is a growing sentiment for the presidency from the South-East, it would only be realistic to support the Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa ticket.
He urged the electorate in the South East geopolitical zone to support the Atiku/Okowa ticket.
The media aide insisted that the PDP had the best blueprint when compared to other political parties as it guaranteed egalitarianism, restructuring, better economic policies and national cohesion.
10. Fuel Scarcity: Marketers Warn Nigerians Ahead Of Tougher Festive Period
Oil marketers have warned Nigerians to braise up to tougher times as the fuel scarcity is going to bite harder in the days ahead, especially with the festive period, which is mostly characterized by travelling.
Queues have been reported to have resurfaced in some states of the federation with just barely a month to the Christmas and new year festivities.
As some filling stations were closed in some parts of Lagos State, while some that opened sold fuel for between N170 to N220 per litre in the state.
The Deputy National President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Zarma Mustapha, revealed that the queues would likely continue till December, noting that efforts were on to address the hitches.
However, a major marketer, who pleaded anonymity told Punch that some new charges had been introduced in the downstream oil sector, which had given rise to a hike in the ex-depot price of petrol.
The marketer said all these concerns could further make the current fuel queues to linger beyond December.
