One Killed, Many Injured As Thugs Attack Sunday Igboho’s Residence

Armed hoodlums on Saturday attacked the Soka residence of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

It was reported that the attack resulted in the death of one and left many others injured.

Confirming the attack on Saturday, Igboho’s lead lawyer, Yomi Aliyyu (SAN), the thugs attacked Igboho’s residence and macheted aides and associates of the Yoruba Nation campaigner.

Frank Mba Hands Over To Olumuyiwa Adejobi As Force PRO, Proceeds On Course

There has been a change in the baton at the Police Public Relations Department as CP Frank Mba has handed over the duties and responsibilities of the Force Public Relations Department to his Deputy, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

According to a statement on Saturday from the Police Force, the change takes immediate effect.

The Police statement signed by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, an admin officer at the Force Public Relations Department, Force Headquarters Abuja added that Mba will now proceed on a Senior Executive Course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.

Ortom Angry As Security Operatives Prevent Him From Receiving Osinbajo In Benue

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has reacted angrily to the decision of some Air Force security operatives who prevented him from receiving Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Saturday.

It was reported Osinbajo was on his way to Wukari in Taraba State to attend the convocation of the Federal University, Wukari.

He, however, had a transit stopover at Benue and Ortom went to the Air Force Base to receive him but was not granted access by the security team on ground.

2023: APC To Effect Changes In Its Constitution Ahead Of General Elections

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has revealed plans to amend its constitution ahead of the 2023 general elections in Nigeria.

The national secretary of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Senator John Akpanudoedehe made this known in a statement on Friday.

He noted that the current constitution has been in place since 2014 and amendments will be presented to party members for action at the National Convention scheduled for February 26, 2022.

Ex-Zamfara Governor, Yari Flown To the UK Over Serious Health Issues

There was tension in Zamfara State on Saturday after former governor Abdul’aziz Yari was flown to the United Kingdom over serious health challenges.

It was confirmed that the politician departed Nigeria in a British Airways aircraft.

It was reported that Yari arrived at the plane terminal in a wheelchair.

The former Governor is said to be in a bad shape medically when he arrived at the international airport ahead of the emergency trip to the UK.

Buhari Sacks First Lady’s Aide, Makes New Appointment

President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the Special Assistant to the President on Domestic and Social Events, Office of the First Lady, Zainab Kazeem.

The President also appointed Muhammad Sani Zorro as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs and Strategy, Office of the First Lady.

It was reported that the Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu, made this known in a statement on Saturday.

ASUU Commences Meeting In Lagos To Finalize On Strike

The National Executive Committee of the Academic Staff Union of Universities has between now and Sunday (tomorrow) to decide the fate of Nigerian students on its impending strike.

It was reported that the academic union on Saturday commenced a two-day meeting at the University of Lagos, Akoka, to finalise the union’s decision.

ASUU had claimed that the Federal Government refused to implement some of the agreements it had with the union as far back as 2009.

Fire Guts Kaduna Residence Of Sheikh Ahmad Gumi

The Kaduna residence of popular and controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has been gut by fire.

As of press time, the source of the fire couldn’t be established but efforts are ongoing to put out the inferno as seen in a video posted by the cleric on his Facebook page.

He captioned the video; “To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. Right now the house of Malam Sheikh Dr Ahmad Gumi is on fire right where Kulliyatul Banaat is.”

2023: Zulum Reveals Those That Will Decide APC Presidential Candidate

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has revealed those who will decide the presidential flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 general election.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari, APC governors and other party leaders will decide who becomes the party’s presidential candidate in 2023.

Zulum made this known on Friday when he received members of the Progressive Consolidation Group (PCG) at his office in the Government House in Maiduguri, the state capital.

Many Trapped As Three-storey Building Collapses In Lagos

Many people are reportedly stuck under the rubbles of a collapsed three-storey building still under construction.

The collapsed building is located on Akanbi Crescent in the Yaba area of Lagos State.

An eyewitness disclosed that the building under construction collapsed into a building beside it.

So far, a 16-year-old boy and another adult male have been pulled out of the rubble while there is an unconfirmed number still trapped underneath.
