“We are’relaxing’ the action for one week, not suspending the strike, to give FG the one-week grace period and test their sincerity,” Francis Akinjorin, Deputy National Secretary of the Association of Air Transport Association of Nigeria (ATTSAN), stated on Tuesday.

This comes after the announcement of a combined extraordinary National Executive Council (NEC) meeting summoned by the two trade unions to decide the fate of the strike.

The strike, which began on Monday, June 2, 2024, was organised to demand a new minimum wage and to protest the recent increase in electricity rates.

Recall that after a six-hour meeting with the Federal Government in Abuja on Monday, President Bola Tinubu stated his intention to raise the recommended minimum salary of N60,000.

The accord said that the President is committed to achieving a National Minimum Wage greater than N60,000. The Tripartite Committee will meet daily for the next week to finalise an acceptable National Minimum Wage.
