1. Details Of What Police IG, PSC Discussed In Abuja Emerges

Details have emerged from the meeting between the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in Abuja today.

Two parties met on Monday at the PSC conference room in Abuja, where they discussed measures to improve mutual relationships between the commission and the police force.

Shortly after the meeting, the new chairman of the PSC, Solomon Arase, said the two parties have resolved to rule out the rift between them over the recruitment of police constables into the force.

According to Arase, the lingering disagreements between the force and the commission over the promotion of officers from the rank of the Deputy Inspectors-General of Police downward will become a thing of the past.

Arase, a retired Inspector-General of Police, stated these in his office in Abuja when the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali, and the Force Management Team paid him a courtesy visit, Naija News understands.

Arase further assured that he would ensure a harmonious working relationship between the commission and the police force was put on the front burner.

2. Confusion As APC NWC Rejects Omo-Agege’s Alleged Expulsion

The National leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the alleged expulsion of its governorship candidate in Delta state, Senator Ovie-Omo Agege, from the party.

The National Publicity Secretary of APC, Felix Morka, told Vanguard that the APC national does not recognize the factional executive of the party.

He stated that the factional executive was behind the purported expulsion of Omo-Agege from the APC in Delta state.

Recall that the Delta State APC had on Monday expelled the Deputy President of the Senate from being a member of the APC for alleged anti-party activities and other unnamed offences.

The expulsion letter was signed by the Chairman, Ulebor Isaac, on behalf of the State Executive Committee of the Delta APC and Secretary, Inana Michael, and 23 others.

Delta APC unanimously resolved and adopted the expulsion of Omo-Agege as a member of the party by the executive committee of the Orogun ward and Ughelli North Local Government chapter.

3. 10th National Assembly: Wike Reveals Candidate Rivers State Will Support For Speaker

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has disclosed that the state would give support to any candidate the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presents to become the Speaker of the House of Representatives for the 10th National Assembly.

Governor Wike however gave a condition that such a person must have the necessary experience to lead the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

The Rivers State Governor made the submission on Monday when the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Idris Wase, led a delegation of other lawmakers to visit him at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

According to Wike, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won 11 out of the 13 federal constituencies in Rivers State, but the lawmakers-elect would back whoever the national leadership of the ruling APC would present as their sole candidate for the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Governor Wike was quoted to have stated this in a statement signed by his Special Assistant, Media, Kelvin Ebiri.

He also appreciated the leadership of the APC for zoning the party’s 2023 presidential ticket to the south.

4. Muslim-Muslim Ticket: APC Chieftain Says Christian Must Get Senate Presidency, Knocks Adamu, Omisore

The National Vice Chairman, Northwest, of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Lukman, has called for the position of Senate President to be zoned to the South-South or South-East.

In a statement on Monday to mark the Abdullahi Adamu-led NWC’s first year in office, Lukman said due to the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the ruling party, it has become urgent to ensure that the Senate Presidency is ceded to a Christian from either the South South or South East.

He slammed the National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and the National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, for running the National Working Committee (NWC) without recourse to other executive members.

Lukman said it is disappointing that one year since they assumed leadership of the APC, the party has been run based on the old mindset of disregard for allowing organs of the party to guide decisions and appropriately allow for broader input.

5. Kaduna Imposes 24-Hour-Curfew In Chikun LGA

Governor Nasir El-Rufai-led government on Monday imposed a 24-hour curfew on Sabon Garin Nassarawa–Tirkaniya area of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The directive is expected to take immediate effect in the affected local government area.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in the state, Samuel Aruwan announced this in a statement released on Monday.

According to Aruwan, the state government reached the decision following a breakdown of law and order which led to the killing of two citizens in an incident of urban gang violence.

He further stated that security agencies have been directed to enforce the curfew in the Local Government Area.

Aruwan charged citizens in the affected area to strictly adhere to the directive.

6. Court Reinstates Nuhu Abok As Plateau Speaker

Nuhu Abok on Monday was restated as the Speaker, of the Plateau State House of Assembly.

A Plateau High Court on Monday presided over by Justice M. L Musa reinstated Abok as Speaker.

It would be recalled that Abok was impeached by the Assembly in October 2021.

However, in its judgment today Justice Musa held the submissions of the complainants that the impeachment was illegal and therefore null and void.

The Court also awarded N1.5 million as the cost of appearance and N138,000 as the cost of filing the matter against the defenders.

Musa said the procedure adopted for the removal of Abok was illegal.

The reinstated speaker, as gathered by this online platform went straight to the Assembly Complex from the court.

He said he was vindicated from the illegal impeachment and appreciated the Plateau people for standing by him during his travails.

7. Tension As Political Thugs Beat Up APC’s Tonye Cole, Beke In Port Harcourt

The Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tonye Cole, and the Chairman of the party, Chief Emeka Beke, have been reportedly beaten up by suspected political thugs in Port Harcourt.

Supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the APC had on Monday clashed in Port Harcourt, Rivers State chapter.

The incident saw one person sustain a gunshot injury after being hit by a stray bullet.

Members of the ruling party, PDP had earlier protested in front of the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) along Aba Road in Port Harcourt.

Recall that Friday, INEC had told Cole and his team to come to the office to pick the Certified True Copies of documents used in the conduct and declaration of the just concluded governorship and state house of assembly elections in the state to enable the APC file process at the tribunal.

But, Monday, hundreds of supporters of the PDP stormed the INEC office demanding that the electoral umpire release CTC of the documents of the election to them.

The PDP protesters blocked off all access points to the INEC office, insisting that they won the election and should be given copies of the documents.

However, while the PDP supporters were still protesting, the Guber candidate of the APC, Cole, Chairman of the party, Beke and a few other candidates of the party arrived.

The APC chieftains, who had arrived in the area on an alleged invitation of the INEC were stopped from accessing the commission’s office by the protesters.

Some of the youths, however, took the moment to attack the APC chiefs, chasing them away from the INEC facility.

8. Kwankwaso Reveals How Tinubu Secured Eight Million Votes Announced By INEC

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has said Nigerians are fed up with the administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kwankwaso in an interview with BBC Hausa Service, alleged that the fraud committed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, led to the victory of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.

According to the former governor of Kano State, INEC fraudulently allocated votes to the APC candidate during the just-concluded presidential election.

Speaking on the further of the party, Kwankwaso said NNPP has a bright future because big politicians are interested in the party and are willing to make necessary contributions to move the party forward.

9. Tinubu: Politicians Plotting Interim National Govt Irresponsible – BMO

The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has said politicians plotting an Interim National Government are irresponsible and mischievous.

In a statement issued on Monday by its Chairman, Niyi Akinsiju, and Secretary, Cassidy Madueke, the BMO said the politicians calling for an interim government are people who do not mean well for the country.

The organisation stated that the call on President Muhammadu Buhari to annul the February 25 presidential election is baseless because the Nigerian leader would not be part of any form of illegality.

It said the alarm issued by the Department of State Services (DSS) was a timely message for politicians plotting to thwart the inauguration of President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

BMO advised all the aggrieved politicians to take their evidence to the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal instead of allegedly sponsoring protests or seeking frivolous court injunctions.

It also expressed hope that the DSS and other security agencies would continue to live up to their constitutional mandate of protecting the country against any internal security threats.

10. ‘Imo Govt, Police Seal LP Secretariat’

The Imo State Police Command has sealed the secretariat of the Labour Party (LP) in the state.

The development was confirmed by the national secretary of the party, Umar Farouk in a statement released on Monday.

According to Farouk, the secretariat was sealed by the police in connivance with the state government.

The party claimed that the agents of the state Governor, Hope Uzodinma, thugs and police operatives from the government house sealed the party’s secretariat.

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Oguwike Nwachuku in reaction to the development said that the allegation was unfounded.
