  1. Learn to Embrace Failure

“If I had to live my life again, I’d make the same mistakes, only sooner.” -Tallulah Bankhead

Most people hate failure. They run from it. They let their results determine their self-worth, and therefore, failure is something to be avoided.

However, if you’re not failing, you’re not learning. If you’re Qnot learning, you’re likely reliving your past. You’re ‘resting on your laurels’ and simply going through the motions.

Hence, Hugh MacLeod has said,

“A lot of people in business say they have twenty years’ experience, when in fact all they have is one year’s experience, repeated twenty times.”

Indeed, if we all want more from our lives in 2023, then we must have the courage to attempt more things that might not work.

We must give up our certainty in the present to embrace a bigger future. As Jerry Weintraub said, “As soon as you feel comfortable, that’s when it’s time to start over.”

  1. Take Your Commitment to the Next Level

“I suggest you become obsessed about the things you want; otherwise, you are going to spend a lifetime being obsessed with making up excuses as to why you didn’t get the life you wanted.” -Grant Cardone

In this life, we can choose to create our own realities. The visions you see in your head can be alive and real in your outward reality. However, your future will be shaped by the results you’re most committed to.

Brendon Burchard said, “We must remember we are not the sum of our intentions but of our actions.” Darren Hardy has similarly written,

“If there’s a discrepancy between what you say and what you do, I’m going to believe what you do every time. Habits and behaviors never lie.”

In 2023, it’s time to put our actions where our thoughts are. It’s time to decide specifically what we want and put our all into.

Said Jay Shetty, “If you don’t sacrifice for what you want, what you want becomes the sacrifice.”

  1. Write Your Goals Down Daily

“Until your dreams become emotional, they won’t be powerful enough.” -Benjamin P. Hardy

You solidify your commitment to your goals by writing them down daily. Each morning is a chance to set your life in the direction you intend to go.

However, most people wake up and are immediately drawn into a reactive and unintentional state by the allure of their smartphone. They then go through their day, and not much different happens from the day before.

Of course, Benjamin P. Hardy once wrote,

“How you start something is generally how you finish it.”

Abraham Lincoln similarly said, “The best way to predict the future is to create it.”

You create the life you want by intentionally planning and designing it. You must be the architect of your life rather than the victim of it.

So, writing your goals down is something that need not take more than 10 minutes upon waking up. Simply take a few minutes to pull out your journal and visualize the future you seek to create.

As you make this a daily habit, you transform the ideas in your head from just that to an emotional experience. The more emotionally-charged you can make your future vision, the more you’ll be driven to achieve it.

In his book, The Miracle Equation, Hal Elrod wrote, “Whatever future may seem like a fantasy to you now is simply a future reality that you have yet to create.”

  1. Love Your Life in the Here and Now

“Love the life you have while you create the life of your dreams. Don’t think you have to wait for the latter to do the former.” -Hal Elrod

As you strive for bigger and better futures, don’t lose appreciation for the blessings in your life today. People think they’ll be happy when they obtain some future result, but this is a trap that always leaves you wanting more.

As Benjamin P. Hardy once wrote, “Until you appreciate what you currently have, more won’t make your life better.” Andy Rooney similarly says,

“Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it.”

In 2023, don’t think life will get better on the other side. Instead, see the perfection in your life today. Love the life you have while you create the life of your dreams, as joy can only be found in the present moment.

Said Thich Nhat Hanh, “If we do not have peace and joy right now, when will we have peace and joy — tomorrow, or after tomorrow? What is preventing us from being happy right now?”
