9. If Ayu Drops Dead Tomorrow, PDP Will Move On – Bode George Blows Hot Over PDP Crisis

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George has berated the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, for refusing to resign from his position despite the rift in the party.

Governor Nyesom Wike of River state and his Abia, Oyo, Enugu, and Benue states counterparts, Okezie Ikpeazu, Seyi Makinde, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and Samuel Ortom, respectively, insisted that Ayu must resign from office over the alleged imbalance in the PDP leadership.

The governors insisted Ayu had earlier promised to resign from his position if the presidential candidate emerges from the North.

The party consequently set up a BoT Reconciliation Committee headed by former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, to wade into the crisis between Wike and Ayu.

With Ayu showing no intent to honour his pledge, the Adolphus Wabara-led committee submitted a number of recommendations, one of which was that Ayu should commit to leaving his position after the 2023 elections.

Sharing his thoughts on the situation in an interview with Sunday Punch, George opined that Ayu should keep to his promise.

He wondered why the National Chairman was so bent on keeping his position adding that if he should die the PDP would still continue with its affairs.

10. Six Killed As ISWAP Invades Boko Haram Stronghold

Fighters of the Islamic State In West Africa Province (ISWAP) has at the weekend attacked the enclaves of the Boko Haram, during which six of them were reportedly killed.

The attack is a continuation of their sustained inter-rivalry clash following the decision of the ISIS backed ISWAP faction to pull out of Boko Haram.

It was gathered that ISWAP had in a silent operation stormed the home of Boko Haram insurgents in Gajibo, a town 95km northeast of Maiduguri, Borno state capital, and slaughtered six whom they declared as “infidels”.

An Intelligence source told Zagazola Makama, a Counter-Insurgency expert and Security Analyst in Lake Chad, that the attackers also recovered five AK 47 riffles from the Boko Haram terrorists.

ISWAP had carried out many successful attacks against Boko Haram terrorists in its sustained feuds, which caused the group a huge casualty and loss of war assets.

The worsening inter-rivalry clashes, between jihadist groups, may lead them to irreversible self-destruction as the revolting ISWAP had vowed to battle more with members of its former main body than even with the Nigerian troops.
