He also called on the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar to avoid sycophants urging him to ignore Wike and his people, declaring that such people are the real enemies of the party.

According to Fayose, the Wike camp is open to resolving the crisis but Atiku must do the right thing by reaching out to those he should, uniting the party and ensuring the PDP goes united into the 2023 elections which is the only guarantee that the party will win.

He added that he is supporting Wike because he knows the Rivers Governor is on the right path based on earlier discussions with Atiku immediately after the PDP presidential primaries in Abuja.

He added that Wike is the soul of the PDP who has done so much and continues to do much more to ensure the PDP remains relevant.

Fayose made his stand known while commissioning a renovated Community Secondary School, in Degema Local Government Area, executed by the Wike administration.

2023: Obi Does Not Have What It Takes To Defeat Tinubu – Umahi

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State says the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, does not have what it takes to defeat the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

Umahi made this known on Friday while speaking with State House correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He admitted that even though Obi is accepted in the South East and will get substantial votes in the region, Tinubu will still emerge as the next President in 2023.

The governor added that while Tinubu will win the 2023 presidential election, the former Lagos State Governor would have prepared a very good ground for the South East presidency in 2031.

He said: “He may not see it, but that is not to say that Peter Obi is not going to get substantial votes in the South East.

“So, while my party takes the victory, he would have prepared a very good ground for the south-east presidency, so that nobody is going to write us off. And you can see the level of his acceptability, which does not translate to victory over APC. I’m sure of that.

“But it’s a good move. And it reassures the south-east people and the entire country that we are accepted, you know; that we will one day become the president of this country. It is very important.

“The Peter Obi movement is a movement that is anchored on equity, justice and fairness. It may not translate to an outright win because I must defend my party; I must wish my party well and I have the ticket of my party. But whether what he is doing has meaning there, it is not only in the South East; it does have meaning.”

Atiku Vs Wike: Jibrin’s Resignation Not Enough To End PDP Crisis – Nwuke

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ogbonna Nwuke, says the resignation of Senator Walid Jibrin as the Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman isn’t enough to solve the crisis rocking the party.

Jibrin resigned from his position on Thursday at the 97th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Following Jibrin’s resignation, former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara emerged as the new PDP BoT Chairman of the opposition party.

In an interview with TheGuardian, Nwuke said Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and his allies cannot be appeased with the resignation of Jibrin.

The former member of the House of Representatives said BoT was only an advisory body, which has not much effect on the party crisis.

He added that the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, cannot come from the North, which he said negates fairness and equity.

Adamu stated that the ruling does not have any option but to win the 2023 presidential election, adding that the party is not working to end up at the tribunal.
