1. Presidency Announces Fresh Appointment By Buhari

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Dr. Salisu Dahiru as the pioneer Director-General and CEO of the National Council on Climate Change.

Dahiru’s appointment was announced in a statement on Sunday evening from the presidency.

The appointment is with effect from July 25, 2022.

According to the statement, until his appointment, Dahiru was National Project Coordinator for Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) and ACReSAL Nigeria which is a 6-year World Bank-assisted project that seeks to increase the adoption of sustainable landscapes management practices in Northern Nigeria.

2. NAF Bombs Notorious Bandit Leader, Abdulkareem Boss, 27 Others To Death

A wanted bandit warlord, Alhaji Abdulkareem Lawal also known as Abdulkareem Boss has been killed by bomb strikes from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

Lawal was killed along with twenty-seven other bandits during a NAF airstrike in Katsina State on Saturday.

The wanted criminal was based in the Marina area of Safana Local Government Area, and was responsible for several terrorist attacks, animal rustling and kidnappings.

Boss was known to regularly invite terrorist groups from other areas and regions to join him in attacks on targets.

Specifically, he was part of the terrorist group that carried out attacks that eventually led to the death of the Nigerian Police Area Commander of Dutsin Ma on 5 July, 2022.

Confirming the killing of Abdulkareem Boss to PRNigeria, an intelligence military officer, said that the terror kingpin was neutralized in a precision strike alongside 27 of his foot soldiers, at Rugu Forest.

3. Keyamo: Why We Won’t Beg ASUU Over Strike – Parents

Parents, on the platform of the National Parents Teachers Association of Nigeria (NAPTAN), have revealed why they will not beg members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The parents stated this while reacting to the call of the Minister of State for Labour, Festus Keyamo, calling on them to beg ASUU.

According to NAPTAN, they will only consider begging the union if the government considers the reports of the various committees set up to look into the demands of the union.

4. Buhari’s Nephew Dumps APC, Keeps Mum On Reason

A nephew to President Muhammadu Buhari, Hon. Fatuhu Muhammadu has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The son of President Buhari’s elder sister had failed to secure his reelection ticket.

Fatuhu had polled 30 votes while his rival, Aminu Jamo, got 117 votes in the primary election.

Fatuhu, who represents Daura/Mai’Adua/Sandamu Federal Constituency of Katsina State in the House of Representatives, announced his decision to leave the party in a letter to the ward Chairman of Sarakin Yera A Ward in Daura.

Fatuhu did not give any reason for dumping the party, but we understands that it may be connected to his electoral loss.

5. Tinubu/Shettima: North Central APC Forum Rejects Lalong As Campaign DG

Leader of the All Progressives Congress in North Central under the aegis of the North Central APC Forum has condemned the appointment of the  former Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong as the Director General of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Organization.

The group described Lalong’s appointment as insulting, degrading and making the North Central irrelevant in the political calculation of the country.

According to the forum, the ruling party did not favour the region for the presidency and vice presidential candidate but could appoint someone from the region for DG to campaign for the party.

Saleh Mandung Zazzaga while speaking on behalf of the forum in Jos called on Lalong to reject the appointment.

The 2023 presidential candidate f the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has commended the drive of Nigerian youths in ‘taking back’ the country.

Obi in a statement on Sunday appreciated all his loyalists and supporters across the nation, assuring that the labour will not be in vain.

The presidential candidate stated this while reacting to the one-million-man march recently organized by his supporters in Nasarawa State.

He described the march as a great step in “taking back our country.”

Former lawmaker, Dino Melaye, has said that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu considers the presidency his retirement plan.

Sharing his thoughts on the political ambition of Tinubu via his Facebook page, the recently appointed spokesperson of Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar’s campaign said that the former Lagos governor was contesting the presidency to fulfil his “lifetime ambition”.

Speaking further, he berated the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, over his comment on his employer in a recent TV interview, Malaye stated that unlike Tinubu the PDP’s candidate is contesting with rich credentials.

Rivers State Governor and former presidential aspirant, Nyesom Wike has disclosed his recent findings about unhealthy plans by some politicians ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain while speaking during a Sunday night broadcast said he has been informed that some unnamed politicians were recruiting hoodlums to disrupt processes before and during the forthcoming polls.

Wike said the revelation, based on intelligence reports further suggested that some owners of hotels and entertainment spots were renting out their spaces to the unnamed political groups for the gathering of the said thugs across the state.

The governor vowed not to take the intelligence report lightly.

Wike warned that he will not allow any political party, be it PDP, the All Progressives Congress (APC) or the Social Democratic Party (SDP) disrupt the peace of the state.

The governor stressed that his administration will not treat with fairness any politician caught in the act no matter the status of such individual.

The dethroned Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido has said that he has been vindicated as he claims that most of the things he prophesied have come through.

The former governor of the central bank of Nigeria said this at a stage play titled “Emir Sanusi: Truth in Time,” on Saturday in Abuja.

He said he would continue to express his views on issues of national significance as they relate to Nigerian growth and development.

10. Tobi Amusan Wins Gold, Sets New Record At 2022 Commonwealth Games

Nigerian track and field athlete, Oluwatobiloba Ayomide, better known as Tobi Amusan has earned herself more respect after finishing a race in 12.30s count on Sunday at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

The 25-year-old Ijebu-Ode-born athlete made it through the women’s 100m hurdles, defending her initial record at the ongoing event.

Amusan on Sunday clocked a flash timing of 12.30s(-0.2) to win a pristine gold medal. Her 12.30s timing was also a new record at the Games.

Amusan based on records is the first world champion to win gold in the event and the first Nigerian athlete to be crowned champion at all levels of athletics in the same year.

The likes of Jamaican duo Danielle Williams, Megan Tapper, England’s Cindy Sembre, Michelle Jenneke of Australia, and Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas all came behind Amusan in the touchline.
