How To Recognize Opportunity
Wealth inspiration part 12.
Wisdom can often come in small packages, and wisdom about building wealth is no different.
Today’s quote is from Thomas Edison, the famous inventor, businessman, and founder of General Electric:

“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.”
The truth is that most people hope for a miracle. They buy lottery tickets, or they put some money in something “hot” like Tesla or Bitcoin, hoping that it will make them rich.
They wonder why they don’t seem to find the same opportunities as successful people.
But the reality is that successful people don’t wait for an opportunity to drop into their lap.
They study, they network, they try, they fail, they prepare, and they search.
Opportunity is hard work. It is not winning the lottery. It takes effort, dedication, and a relentless drive to have or build something better.
Jeff Bezos didn’t build Amazon by accident. It took hard work.
Elon Musk didn’t put people into space by accident. It took hard work.
Warren Buffett didn’t just get lucky throwing darts at a list of stocks. He read for 8 hours per day for decades to know what to do.
Want to be successful at blogging? Are you ready to write every day for a year or two with no income to even just get your foot in the door? Yes, blogging is an opportunity, but it takes work and dedication. It doesn’t happen overnight.
Other opportunities are similar. A few hours or a few weeks is not enough to be successful in pretty much any worthwhile endeavor.
So roll up your sleeves, study, and prepare. You will start to see opportunity everywhere once you get your mind ready for it.
How are you looking for opportunities?

Building Arks
After struggling to build wealth early in my career while following traditional financial advice, I set out on a path to learn about investing. Over a decade later, I’m financially secure and working towards full financial independence through real estate and the stock market. I have succeeded in building my financial ark to help me weather whatever storms may come.
I founded Building Arks to help busy professionals like you ignore mainstream advice and build real wealth.
