Tinubu Picks Up APC 2023 Presidential Nomination Form

Former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, has payed for the All Progressive Congress, APC 2023 Presidential Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms.

The forms were picked up today at the party’s National Headquarters, by some loyalists to the APC national leader.

Recall that Tinubu jet out of the country days ago for lesser Hajj (Umrah) in Saudi Arabia.

The politician had announced his intention to run for the office of the president when visited he President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock villa in January this year.

2023 Presidency: Adamu Gives Update On Zone That Will Produce APC Presidential Candidate

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu has disclosed that the party is yet to take a decision on the zone that will produce its 2023 presidential candidate.

Adamu made the disclosure on Friday at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa shortly after presenting the party’s candidate for the 2022 Ekiti governorship election, Biodun Oyebanji, to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Addressing State House correspondents, the APC Chairman said he can’t preempt the region that the presidential ticket will be zoned to.

He added that only the party can make that decision and urged people to be patient.

2023: Ken Nnamani Joins Presidential Race

A former Senate President, Ken Nnamani on Friday officially declared his intention to contest in the 2023 presidential election under the All Progressives Congress.

Nnamani announced his intention to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 during a press conference held in Abuja.

According to the former Senate President, he will purchase the nomination forms of the ruling party in a couple of days.

The nomination and expression form of the APC has been pegged at N100 million by the leadership of the party.

Borno: Nigerian Army Kills ISWAP Spiritual Leader, Terrorists

Fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram in Borno State have been neutralised by troops of the Nigerian Army (Operation Desert Sanity).

The Nigerian Army also disclosed that it killed the Amir (commander) and spiritual head of Galta, close to Mandara Mountain in the South of Borno.

The spiritual head of the terrorist group was killed during an operation around Manjo Ali Qere in the state.

The army in a post on its Twitter account on Friday morning noted that arms and ammunition were recovered during the operation.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Thursday warned political appointees who have 2023 ambitions to resign from their position.

According to Gbajabiamila, the political appointees pose a risk to themselves and their parties if they refuse to resign.

The Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act 2022 which was recently signed by the President Muhammadu Buhari states, “No political appointee at any level shall be a voting delegate or be voted for at the convention or congress of any political party for the purpose of the nomination of candidates for any election.”

This means political appointees who have ambitions have to resign their appointments before contesting.

2023: Forget Zoning, Embrace Competence – Ango Abdullahi Tells PDP

The leader of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Professor Ango Abdullahi, has urged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to jettison the discussion on zoning the presidency to a particular region.

He made this known on Thursday while speaking with the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) leadership who paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Zarai, Kaduna State.

The elder statesman advised the PDP and other political parties toiling with the issue of zoning or power shift to forget the move and look for candidates who are competent.

Abdullahi pointed out that presidential candidates should be allowed to contest the election on the merit of their competence and not where they come from, adding that the issue of zoning or power shift is dead on arrival

Court Remands PDP Rivers Governorship Aspirant, Farah Dagogo

A governorship aspirant in Rivers State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Farah Dagogo has been remanded in police custody.

Dagogo, the lawmaker representing Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, was arrested by police operatives in Rivers State on Thursday.

He appeared before Chief Magistrate A.O Amadi-Nna of the Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court on Friday morning and was ordered to be remanded in Police custody.

The lawmaker will be in custody till May 9, 2022, as ordered by the judge.

2023 Presidency: Don’t Be Under Pressure To Pick ‘Managers’ – Okorocha Tells APC Delegates

2023 presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Rochas Okorocha has urged party delegates not to make decisions they will regret later because of pressure.

Okorocha who spoke on Friday shortly after he was presented with the APC presidential nomination form said delegates should avoid sentiments when voting to elect party candidates.

The lawmaker told them to choose builders and not managers.

2023: Oshiomhole Drops Senate Ambition For Presidency

The former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole has shed his ambition to contest for a seat in the Senate.

He said this when the form was presented to him by a group known as the New Nigeria Movement.

Oshiomhole, however, in a post on his Facebook account said he would formally declare for presidency today on live TV.

The notice reads, “Special Invitation. Dear Sir/Madam.

“I wish to specially invite you to Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s public declaration to contest for the office of President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, in the 2023 general election, under the platform of the APC.”
