Fulani Herdsmen Not Behind Benue Killings – Military

The Military High Command has stated that Fulani herdsmen are not responsible for the killings of 21 people in three Local Government Areas of Benue State.

The Chief of Defence, Training and Operations, Defence Headquarters, Major General Adeyemi Yekini stated this when he paid an on the spot visit to scenes of the attacks.

Recall that 21 people were killed in the early hours of Tuesday in attacks on villagers in Guma, Logo and Tarka LGAs of Benue.

Three more dead bodies were later recovered in Tyotugh in Tarka LGA where 15 of the corpses were earlier discovered.

Nigerian Army Troops Kill Top ISWAP Commander Abu Fatima With Super Tucano Bombs

Troops of the Nigerian Army have eliminated another top commander of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) identified as Abu Fatima.

The ISWAP Commander was killed alongside fifteen other fighters in the Lake Chad area following massive airstrikes by troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) using the Super Tucano jet fighters.

According to information made available to Naija News, the successful airstrikes were carried out on April 9, 2022, by the Nigerian Air Force Super Tucano in coordination with the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Niger Air Task Force’s Mi35 and Mi171 Helicopter Gunship.

A veteran journalist, Mustapha Ogunsakin has claimed that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo rejected the chance to become Nigeria’s Attorney-General and Minister of Justice under the administration of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo.

The journalist stated this on Friday amidst claims that Osinbajo has betrayed his benefactor and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for declaring to contest in the 2023 presidential election.

Ogunsakin claimed that Obasanjo offered Osinnajo, who was then Lagos State Commissioner of Justice, the AGF role in 2005 but Nigeria’s vice-president rejected the offer out of loyalty to Tinubu.

Human rights activist and lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) has slammed the Muhammadu Buhari-led government for granting state pardon to former Governors of Plateau and Taraba, Joshua Dariye and Jolly Nyame respectively.

Speaking at the one year remembrance programme for the late Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, Falana said other jailed criminals should get the same privilege.

The Council of State meeting presided over by President Buhari pardoned the former governors, who were jailed for corruption, alongside 157 others on Thursday.

The federal government of Nigeria is not ready to meet the demands of bandit terrorists that attacked the Abuja-Kaduna train on March 28.

While it has been established that the government has started negotiating with the terrorists on how to secure the release of victims kidnapped during the attack, fresh information on the negotiations has it that some of the terms given by the abductors are not acceptable to the government.

Particularly, it will be recalled that the terrorists had in a viral video asked the Nigerian Government to meet their demands or they will kill the abducted victims in their custody.

In the video, the terrorists had threatened to “turn their abode into an abattoir” if the government fails to heed to their demands.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige on Saturday noted that he would disclose his presidential ambition on Tuesday.

Ngige in his statement said he would disclose his position on the 2023 presidency after Easter celebration.

The former Governor of Anambra State stated at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu while responding to a request from a pressure group under the aegis of the South East Progressive Forum who stormed the airport and asked the minister to contest the presidency in 2023.

Former presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba has disclosed his intentions to join the 2023 presidential race.

The CEO of Crowee, via his Facebook page on April 15, noted that he will be making his intentions of presidential ambition known to the general public on the 16th, April 2022.

Notifying the public about his declaration, Garba wrote; “I will be declaring to aspire for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria tomorrow 16 April 2022 insha Allahu. Let’s do this for our country, guys. May Allah, the Guarantor, Guardian and Grantor of Power and Authority see us through.”

Kaduna Train Attack: Families Of Abducted Victims Give FG Condition To Resume Operations

Family members of those kidnapped during the Abuja-Kaduna train attack on March 28 have kicked against plans by the federal government to resume rail services on the corridor while their people remain in captivity of the terrorists.

Speaking at a media briefing on Friday, the families said the government should not be thinking of resuming train services until the abducted persons are rescued and reunited with their families.

They argued that safety measures also need to be put in place before services resume so as to prevent future attacks.

2023: PDP Releases New Timetable, Extends Sales Of Nomination Forms

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has released an adjusted timetable for the schedule of party activities relating to preparations for the 2023 general elections in the country.

The PDP according to the new timetable has adjusted its Schedule of Activities to extend the closing dates for the purchase and submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the 2023 general elections.

A statement to that effect which was signed and released on Friday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba explained that the change is to enable the Party to make up for the two days public holidays as announced by the Federal Government.

LCC Bows To Pressure, Postpones Resumption Of Tolling On Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge

The Lekki Concession Company (LCC) has announced the postponement of the planned resumption of toll collection on the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge in Lagos State.

The LCC Managing Director, Yomi Omomuwasan made the development known in a statement on Friday.

He submitted that the need to continue to engage stakeholders in the matter is responsible for the company’s decision to postpone the resumption of tolling.

Omomuwasan added that the postponement would allow more customers to register for the electronic toll devices.
