President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday addressed members of the All Progressives Congress as the ruling party swore in new national leaders.

The President while congratulating Abdullahi Adamu and the other members of the National Executive Committee said the unity of the party has put it on the right foot ahead of the 2023 general elections.

President Buhari who returned to the Eagle Square on Sunday morning, along with the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo and the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan to witness the swearing-in of the party leaders expressed delight on the smooth convention of the party.

2. Nyesom Wike Declares Intention To Succeed Buhari In 2023

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has declared his intention to contest in the 2023 presidential election.

He disclosed this in Markurdi on Sunday during talks with Governor Samuel Ortom and some delegates of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike, who is popularly called ‘national governor’ by some PDP members, said he has the courage and resources to dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from power at the ballot box.

According to a statement by his Special Assistant, Media, Kelvin Ebiri, wike said he would tackle the festering insecurity in the country and engender rule of law.

3. PDP Blames Buhari For Kaduna Airport Attack By Terrorists, Says Nowhere Is Safe Again In Nigeria

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in its reaction to Saturday’s attack by bandit terrorists on Kaduna Airport has blamed it on the inefficiency of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.

The PDP in a statement on Sunday lamented that terrorists, bandits, and other criminals have taken over every part of the country and the government and security agencies appear helpless.

It will be recalled that troops of the Nigerian military on Saturday clashed with bandit terrorists forcing the closure of the Kaduna International Airport.

Gunmen invaded the airport, disrupting the operation of the airport services.

The incident had caused the death of a staff member whom the Kaduna State government revealed to have been shot by the assailants.

Reacting to the development, the PDP in a statement on Sunday signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Olgunagba said it is alarming that the terrorists now target airports after taking over the roads.

The PDP added that the Kaduna airport attack is a clear indication that nowhere is safe again in Nigeria.

It accused President Buhari of having a nonchalant attitude towards the security situation in the country, adding that he is clearly unable to tackle the challenges.

4. APC Will Lead Nigerians To Manifest Their Destinies – Osinbajo

Vice president Yemi Osinbajo has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will continue to lead Nigerians in the coming years.

He stated this on Saturday night during the National Convention of the ruling party.

According to a statement by his spokesman, Laolu Akande, Osinbajo asked APC members to focus on the task of lifting 100 million power out of poverty.

He said: “We will continue undaunted in the task of building infrastructure that will be the foundation of the great modern economy of our dreams. We will continue in the task of building a strong, united, fair and just Nigeria; a Nigeria where every young man and woman can find opportunities to work, and prosper.

5. #APCNationalConvention: APC Did A Jamboree To Elect A Corrupt Chairman – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has mocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the emergence of Sen. Abdullahi Adamu as its new National Chairman.

The major opposition party said the new APC chairman, Sen. Adamu has a whole lot of corruption charges hanging on his neck and should not think his emergence as the chairman of the ruling party would prevent him from facing justice.

It urged Adamu to come out and clear his name.

On the convention itself, the PDP said what the ruling party did is nothing but a jamboree celebration of illegality, corruption, and arrogance.

The position of the PDP was made public in a statement on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba where it added that it is shameful the APC used the event to spew more lies about the situation of the country and its economy while citizens continue to wallow in hardship.

According to the PDP, the APC convention is a total illegality, and aspirants hoping to contest elective positions under the APC in the 2023 general elections are on a journey to nowhere.

6. Kwankwaso’s Ally Abba Gida-Gida, Others Dump PDP For NNPP

Some loyalists of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Abba Kabir Yusuf, popularly known as Abba Gida-Gida, who contested the 2019 Kano governorship election under the PDP, and his then-running mate Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, led the defectors.

It was gathered that the defection is all geared towards the March 30 decamping of former Kano governor, Kwankwaso.

Speaking on Sunday at Kwankwasiyya House at Diso ward in Kano, Abba Gida-Gida said there is no difference between the PDP and the APC.

While stating that only the NNPP can rescue Kano and Nigeria, Abba Gida-Gida declared that they won’t rest until they win the Kano governorship election.

7. 2023: Okorocha Speaks On Joint Ticket With Tinubu

The lawmaker representing Imo West Senatorial district, Rochas Okorocha, on Sunday said that he would have the possibility to run for the presidency if Bola Tinubu and Rochas ticket emerged.

Okorocha stated this while addressing newsmen at the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress.

He said, “Uncle Tinubu and I are most likely to be.

“I know that at the appropriate time it may be because he is the one pushing up in the south-west and I am in the south-east.

“So let us see what happens between us, and if that is it, I will ask him to relax a bit so that we can move this section forward.

“The people naturally love me and I think it is because they believe I care, they believe I love and have sympathy for humanity, they believe I am detribalized.

8. #APCNationalConvention: Abdullahi Adamu Officially Emerges APC National Chairman

Former Nasarawa State Governor and Nasarawa West lawmaker, Senator Abdullahi Adamu has been officially declared as the new national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

He was affirmed by the delegates using a voice system during Saturday’s APC national convention which held at the Eagles Square in Abuja.

The Nasarawa Senator had earlier emerged as the consensus candidate of the APC for the national chairmanship position after all other aspirants stepped down for him a few hours before the convention commenced.

He also enjoys the backing of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Adamu was later declared the winner by the Jigawa State Governor, Muhammadu Badaru who is the returning officer for the exercise.

9. Nigeria Customs Reacts To Reports That Its Boss, Hameed Ali Slumped, Flown Abroad For Medical Care

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says there is no truth in reports that its Comptroller-General, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd) has been flown abroad for medical attention after slumping.

The Customs made the clarification in a statement on Sunday by its Public Relations Officer, Timi Bomodi in reaction to an online report that Col. Ali slumped while praying on Wednesday and had been flown out of the country with a private jet for medical attention.

According to Bomodi, the NCS boss is not sick, but rather on leave.

The Customs spokesperson cautioned those behind the report to beware of fake news and its consequences, adding that the service won’t be distracted from carrying out its constitutional assignments.

10. 2023: One Big Mistake APC Must Avoid – Amaechi

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has revealed one big mistake the ruling All Progressive Congress must avoid while still in power.

The APC chieftain while interacting with journalists yesterday at the party’s national convention in Abuja, said the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was drunk with power and had assumed they will forever be leading, hence refused to listen to Nigerians’ outcry.

Amaechi said this is one thing the ruling party must look to avoid.

According to the Minister, President Muhammadu Buhari is carefully listening to the outcry of citizens and is addressing every issue accordingly.
