1. APC Fixes Date For Emergency NEC Meeting

The leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed March 17, 2022, for an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

This was made known in a circular.

The circular reads, “Pursuant to Article 258 (i and ii) of the Party Constitution, and by the power vested on the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) via the NEC resolution of 8th December 2020, the CECPC of the Party at its 23rd meeting of 8 March, 2022, hereby calls for the meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our great Party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) to consider matters pertaining to the National Convention, governance of the party and any other relevant business of the party.

“The meeting is scheduled to hold as follows; Date: Thursday, 17th March 2022. Time: 11:00 am Prompt. Venue: Virtual meeting.

2. NURTW Suspends MC Oluomo Indefinitely As Lagos Chairman

The national leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has handed an indefinite suspension to its Lagos chapter’s Chairman, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly called Mc Oluomo.

According to the letter of suspension signed by the NURTW General Secretary, Kabiru Yau, MC Oluomo is guilty of insubordination and inciting members of the union against the national leadership.

The letter dated March 9, 2022, directed MC Oluomo to hand over all union properties in his care to the state secretary and hand over the leadership to his deputy.

Before the latest development that the NURTW had issued a letter of query to MC Oluomo but in his response, he denied every allegation against him.

He argued that all the allegations levelled against him were false and baseless, saying that he is a promoter of peace.

3. APC Leader Crisis: I’ll Take Over After Treatment – Buni Informs Bello

The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni has expressed his intention to take over as Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress once he returns from his medical trip in Dubai.

The intention of Buni was revealed in a leaked letter he forwarded to the Governor of Niger State, Sani Bello whom he handed over to before his trip.

The letter which was dated February 28, 2022, was addressed to Governor Bello and other members of the caretaker committee before his departure.

Buni in the letter had willingly transmitted power to Bello following his medical leave.

4. 2023: We Must Not Forget How APC Was Formed – Tinubu Sounds Note Of Warning

The National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has emphasized the need for the party to strengthen its internal democratic processes in order to remain relevant.

Tinubu in a personally signed statement titled ‘President Buhari’s Optimism About APC Commendable- Asíwájú Tinubu’ sent to Naija News on Thursday said APC must not be allowed to become like other parties.

The former Lagos State Governor went ahead to praise the fatherly role of President Muhammadu Buhari in leading and keeping the party together since its formation but pointed out that stakeholders within the APC have more to do by remaining democratic and fair.

Tinubu pointed out that party objectives must always be superior to personal ambitions so the party would not go astray and will be able to overcome all challenges that may arise.

He recalled how President Buhari whom he described as a founder of the party, himself, and other stalwarts have invested time, energy, ideas, and resources in forming the APC, urging that their efforts must not be allowed to become a waste.

5. Mai Mala Buni, ‘Yahoo Yahoo’ Governors Trying To Destroy APC – Akeredolu

Chairman of the Southern Governors Forum and Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has berated Governor Mai Mala Buni over his leadership of the Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC).

In a statement to newsmen on Thursday personally signed by him, Akeredolu accused Buni and some pocket-filling black legs in corridors of power of trying to supplant President Muhammadu Buhari’s will.

The governor expressed his unconditional support to Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello of Niger State who has taken over the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to Akeredolu, most governors are determined to see the party through its current crisis.

He also accused some individuals closed to Buni of shopping for a court injunction to scuttle the upcoming APC national convention.

6. MC Oluomo, Lagos NURTW Withdraw From National Body

The suspended Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Lagos State Council, Musiliu Akinsanya better known as MC Oluomo has withdrawn from the national body.

It had been reported earlier that the national leadership of the NURTW on Thursday handed an indefinite suspension to its Lagos chapter’s Chairman, Mc Oluomo.

The letter of suspension signed by the NURTW General Secretary, Kabiru Yau accused MC Oluomo of insubordination and inciting members of the union against the national leadership.

The letter dated March 9, 2022, directed MC Oluomo to hand over all union properties in his care to the state secretary and hand over the leadership to his deputy.

Reacting to the suspension, MC Oluomo and all members of the union announced their withdrawal from the national body.

Rising from a meeting at the state secretariat, Agege, Akinsanya said all attempts to have an amicable resolution to the crisis with the national body have failed.

7. Matawalle Set To Lose Governorship Seat Over Defection To APC

Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State is set to lose his governorship position following his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This is as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking the removal of the governor from office due to his defection to the APC.

In the suit filed by its lawyer, Emmanuel Ukala (SAN), the PDP asked the court to declare the impeached Deputy Governor, Mahdi Aliyu Gusau as the duly elected governor of Zamfara State.

The PDP is also asking the court to sack about 37 members of the National Assembly and the state assembly who defected to the APC.

In his reaction, counsel to Matawalle, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) sought an extension of time to file their responses to the matter.

Justice Inyang Ekwo, however, fixed April 7 for a hearing of the suit following an application for joinder and the submissions of lawyers in the matter.

8. 2023: RCCG Sets Up Directorate For Politics

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has created the directorate for politics and governance ahead of the 2023 general elections in Nigeria.

The church stated that the newly-created directorate is to coordinate the affairs and activities of members interested in seeking political offices in 2023.

The RCCG also announced the appointment of Pastor Timothy Olaniyan, a Pastor in Charge of Province (PICP) Lagos Province 12 as the head of the directorate and directed the pastors at regional, state, zonal, and all other levels to appoint officials to coordinate the new directorate at such levels.

The news about the establishment of the new directorate was made public in a memo with reference number RCCG/AGO/ADM/AA.MEMO/20/01/2022, and dated February 28, which was signed by the Assistant General Overseer (Admin/Personnel) Pastor J. F. Odesola.

9. Many Feared Dead As Tanker Explodes On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Many passengers have reportedly lost their lives in a multiple crash accident which occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Thursday.

The accident involved two vehicles and a tanker which went up in flames around the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry (MFM) Prayer City.

The Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command, Florence Okpe, confirmed the dire incident to newsmen in Abeokuta.

10. Prison Spokesman Reveals How Chidinma Ojukwu Turned Kirikiri Beauty Queen

The National Spokesperson of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Francis Enobore, has confirmed the emergence of Chidinma Ojukwu, the alleged killer of Super TV boss, Michael Ataga as Miss Cell 2022 in Kirikiri Correctional Centre.

Ojukwu emerged as the winner of the competition after competing alongside other ladies at the correctional facility.

Enobore further stated that part of the services of the correctional facility is to ensure that inmates are in sound and good spirits.

The spokesman of NCS revealed this in an interview with DailyTrust on Thursday.
