Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday said some presidential aspirants should be in jail.

The elder statesman noted that some politician who are interested in becoming president should be in jail if the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) performs its assignment.

Obasanjo stated this while speaking at an international symposium to mark his 85th birthday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

A presidential aspirant and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu has revealed that he helped a lot of people achieve their political goals.

The former Lagos State governor made this known when a paid a visit to the traditional rulers in the three senatorial district of Ondo State.

Speaking at the palace of the Deji of Akure, Tinubu said he was in the state to seek the monarch’s support for his presidential aspiration.

According to him, he helped Muhammadu Buhari to become president.

I Became A Bandit To Protect Lives Of My People – Bello Turji

Notorious bandit kingpin Bello Turji has disclosed that he joined banditry to protect the lives of his people that are being killed by a group called Yan Sakai.

In an interview with Trust TV, Turji said he became a bandit following the constant attacks on his village, Fakai village in Shinkafi Local Government in Zamfara State.

He claimed that Yan Sakai members during an attack on his village rustled over 1,000 cattle, injured villagers and killed six children, stressing that the activities of the group made him and some other Fulani youths become bandits.

The bandit kingpin also accused Yan Sakai members of connivance with security agents to harass and extort the Fulani in the state.

In a congratulatory statement sent to Naija News on Saturday by his media aide, Tunde Rahman, Tinubu praised Obasanjo for his patriotism and unfailing commitment to the unity of the country.

He stated that although he has disagreed with Obasanjo on many important issues, he added that their debates have always remained professional.

Third Batch Of Nigerians Stranded In Ukraine Arrive Abuja

The Nigerian Government has received the third batch of stranded Nigerians from Ukraine in Abuja.

The evacuees arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, at 11:50 pm on Friday from Budapest, Hungary aboard Air Peace.

In a tweet via its Twitter handle, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) said the Nigerians were received by its officials at the Abuja airport.

Notorious bandit, Bello Turji made this submission in an interview with Trust Television published on Daily Trust on Saturday.

Turji said he does not need to have any links with ISWAP and Boko Haram because he has no political agenda or looking to establish his own territory.

He said: “We are not interested in establishing any religious organization. We are not aspiring to have a territory of our own, and we don’t have any political aspirations.”

INEC Fixes Date To Suspend Continuous Voter Registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed a date to halt the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration exercise.

In a chat with reporters on Friday, Rotimi Oyekanmi, spokesman to the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, said the electoral body might suspend the exercise in July.

He made this known to reporters on the side line of the ongoing two-day Editorial Capacity Building Workshop for INEC Public Affairs Officers in Lagos.

Oyekanmi stated that INEC decided to disclose the date for suspension in order to dissuade Nigerians who were waiting for the last-minute rush before registering.

Event Centre Where Petrol Was Used As Souvenir Sealed

Havillah Event Centre, Oniru, where petrol was used as a souvenir at a party has been sealed by the Lagos State Government for violating safety regulations.

Punch reports that the event centre was sealed by officials of the Lagos Safety Commission and the Rapid Response Squad “for Contravening Public Safety Rules”.

Gbenga Omotoso, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy spokesman, on Saturday revealed that the state government would probe the use of petrol as souvenir at a party.

The statement came after the agency’s attention was drawn to a viral video showing kegs of petrol being handed out as souvenirs at an events centre in Lagos.
