The Arewa Youth Assembly has called on prominent Nigerians and business moguls to join the race to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

Arewa youths made the call in a statement titled, “Private Sector Players to Join the 2023 Presidential Race,” and jointly signed by its Speaker, Mohammed Danlami and National Clerk, Desmond Minakaro.

The group wondered why those in the private sector and those who have built a career for themselves would leave the running of the country to unqualified individuals.

According to the Arewa Youths, people like Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Mike Adenuga, among others, should rescue Nigeria from its current state by contesting in the 2023 election.

Obasanjo’s Son Backs Osinbajo For Presidency, Buhari’s Aide Reveals

President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide has revealed that Olujonwo, son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has vowed to back Yemi Osinbajo if he joins the presidential race.

It was reported that this was made known in a post on Facebook on Saturday by Buhari’s Special Adviser on Political Matters, Babafemi Ojudu.

Ojodu, who works in the office of the Vice President, disclosed that Olujonwo visited him on Friday to register his wish that Osinbajo joins the 2023 race to succeed President Buhari.

He disclosed that Obasanjo’s son vowed to join Osinbajo’s campaign team if he decided to announce his presidential ambition.

Bala Mohammed Reveals Region That Will Produce Buhari’s Successor In 2023

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has insisted that the North would produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor in the 2023 election.

It was reported that the Bauchi governor disclosed this when a Contact and Consultation Committee he set up for his presidential ambition submitted its report to him on Friday.

According to Bala Mohammed, those pushing for power to shift to the south are those in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and not the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He stated that the North still has four years left, based on the arrangement of the PDP, stressing that there is no justification for the south to get the presidency.

Former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Owelle Okorocha, has stated that Nigeria is not finished despite the challenges facing the country.

It was reported that Okorocha stated this at the “2021 Our Nigeria News Awards “organized by Our Nigeria Magazine with the theme, “Nigeria is Our Nigeria: We Must Join Hands Together To Make It Work Or We Perish Together,” in Abuja, on Friday.

The lawmaker representing Imo West Senatorial District in the National Assembly admitted that the nation is passing through a difficult moment ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The former governor however urged leaders at all levels to begin to accept responsibilities.

Remains Of OAU Student, Timothy Adegoke Laid To Rest

The remains of a murdered student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Timothy Adegoke, has been buried amidst tears.

It was reported that the 37-year-old Master of Business Administration student died under controversial circumstances.

It was gathered that the remains of Adegoke were brought to the Eruwa Town Hall in a white casket with hundreds of youths in attendance.

The body of the accountant was buried beside the house he built for his parents in the New Eruwa part of Eruwa town. Eruwa is the headquarters of the Ibarapa East Local Government Area of Oyo State, according to The PUNCH.

Former Oyo Governor, Alao-Akala To Be Buried Next Month

A former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala will be buried on February 18, 2022.

Recall that Otunba Alao- Akala had died on January 12, 2022, at the age of 71.

In a statement released by his family, activities for the burial of Alao-Akala’s remains will commence on February 14, 2022 with tributes by the Oyo State political class.

A praise night will be held for the Ogbomoso born-politician on Tuesday at his residence in Ogbomoso.

While on Wednesday will be for his lying-in-state at the Oyo State Government House.

CBN Cuts Bank Charges, Removes ATM Maintenance Fee, Other Charges

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reviewed banking charges and rates including ATM Maintenance Fees; Electronic Fund Transfers and Bulk Payments.

This was disclosed in the Central Bank of Nigeria’s new ‘Guide to Charges by Banks Other Financial and Non-Financial Institutions.

According to the apex bank, the guideline applies to charges made by Banks Other Financial and Non-Financial Institutions pursuant to their license or regulation.

According to the document obtained by Naija News, the CBN has reduced the fees associated with certain transactions, including Standing Order Charges (In-Branch); ATM Maintenance Fees; Electronic Fund Transfers; and Bulk Payments.

2023: Umahi Replies Atiku, Says PDP Missing His Leadership

Governor David Umahi has asked former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to leave him out of the problem rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Reacting to a statement credited to Atiku, Umahi the former vice president and the PDP to stop linking him with their woes.

Atiku had through Raymond Dokpesi, the Chairman of the Technical Committee for the actualization of Atiku Abubakar Presidential ambition, described Umahi as heartless for unjustly sealing the Ebonyi PDP secretariat and the continued detention of the party’s spokesperson in police custody.

Eko, Ikeja Discos Explain Power Outages In Lagos

Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) and Ikeja Electric (IE) Plc on Saturday explained the reasons behind the outage currently being experienced by customers under their networks in Lagos State.

It was reported that the Discos gave the reasons in statements issued on their social media pages on Saturday.

According to the companies, the power outages are caused by a drop in power generation.

In its statement, EKEDC stated that the outages were due to the drop in power generation from an average of 3,700MW to 2,000MW per hour.

Ogun: Teenage Boys Caught Burning Girl’s Head For Money Ritual

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested some teenage boys in the Oke Aregbe area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital after they were caught burning the head of a girl.

It was gathered that the girl was in a relationship with one of them before she was killed for a money ritual.

The community security guard, Segun Adewusi, in the early hours of Saturday observed that the boys were burning something suspected to be the human head in a local pot on the road.

Adewusi immediately contacted the police at Adatan station, who went to the scene to arrest three of the boys, while one of them fled before police arrived.
