7 Things I Always Insist On With My Children

I was once a growing child and I know that positive changes do not come easily. I don’t know why; there is this bent in us towards the negative always. Think of it. You don’t have to plant weeds for them to grow at your backyard or garden. But you have to consciously plant and carefully nurture some fruit trees to grow.

With this hindsight, I am always determined to insist on certain things with my children so that they can turn out well in life by the grace of God.

Let me share some of them in this diary.

I always tell my children to take total responsibility for their lives and destinies.

Yes, unless we do this, we will always behave as victims of life’s circumstances. Taking total responsibility for our lives will help us to take the bull by the horns and make something impactful out of our lives.

I always tell my children to believe in themselves no matter what.

If the world do not believe in you and you believe in yourself, you will still have a chance to make it. But if the world believes in you and you do not believe in yourself, the way to success in life will be tough and rough if not impossible.

I always tell my children to be bookworms.

Yes! Knowledge is power. I have always been a bookworm and I will be all the days of my life.

I always tell my children to be value focused.

I remember a particular holiday that I got seriously busy with them to memorize more than one hundred positive values. This experience changed their lives and mine forever. How did I know? I hear them talk about it from time to time.

I always tell my children to be confident in any situation.

Those who are confident will always rule the timid ones in life.

I always tell my children to be constantly grateful to all.

It is not uncommon to hear my children saying thank you over and over for buying them mere yoghurt drink. Believe me, I like it that way! Those who show gratitude can never be stranded in life. Never!

I always tell my children to be fiercely spiritual.

After all to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Knowing and serving God will never take a second place in my family. Never!
